Ahmet Barbak was born in İzmir, Turkey in 1978. He holds a PhD in Public Administration from Ankara University, Turkey; an MBA from Gazi University, Turkey; and a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering from the Turkish Military Academy. Prior to joining academia, he served as a Director of Finance and Budgeting in the Turkish Armed Forces, including International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan. Dr. Barbak has taught at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration of İzmir Katip Çelebi University since 2015. He continued postdoctoral studies at Balsillie School of International Relations, Wilfrid Laurier University in Ontario/Canada. He received Associate Professor Degree from Turkey’s Inter-University Board in 2020. Lately, Dr. Barbak has worked for United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) as a Key Expert responsible for Capacity Building in strengthening of civilian and democratic oversight of internal security sector in Turkey.
